What does Seylec do and why?
As UK manufacturing of electronic product has declined over the last 10 years, more and more people are falling away from manufacturing and into the service sector, the UK seems to be losing its ability to make things, let alone fix them.
You can't blame the average man in the street, we have a whole generation of people who are fantastic with computers, but don't know how a relay works. Mainstream garages don't have mechanics any more they have technicians due to the complexity of a modern vehicle.
We are asked to recycle, but products are made so cheap you throw them away if they go wrong. We are asked to turn devices off instead of leaving them on standby which increases wear on the switch and reduces the life of the product.
What happens to the older equipment? Who can fix it? Do you want a standard engineer who follows his tick box diagnosis, if he hasn't got a prepared solution he sells a new product?
As I watched the above becoming a daily reality, I have decided to try and offer the solutions, with 20+ years experience in the Global electronics market, hopefully I can help with your repairs, sales, marketing, sourcing, installation and support of electronic/electrical problems, not only to the corporate level, but to the individual as well.
Over the years I have been asked to source product for other companies or fix something for 'the bloke down the road' and never had the time when managing businesses for other people. As these requests were getting more common, I became self-employed and launched Seylec in April 2007.
Although fault finding and installation on anything electrical are the most common jobs I take on, Seylec is an authorised agent/installer for Tadmod (Selmar), Bluedelta, Antares, Federal Signal and Energy solutions who each offer manufacturing capabilities for different sectors of my market. I've recently also been appointed as the Sole UK agent for Mercura SA offering sales/support for the Synergy multiplex system. For 2008 we have also started stocking the Ludo Mcgurk / Kussmaul range of Auto eject plugs and sockets.
Utilizing the individual strengths of each supplier, I can offer a full range of product starting with a 3 Watt power supplies through 100 Watt to 1kW battery chargers and 2 kW inverters upto 20kW Isolation transformers with all the complimentary switches, breakers and fittings to meet Automotive, Marine. commercial and Domestic requirements.
Supported with this supplier structure and utilising my experience, I hope to offer an all-round technical service; Seylec for Electrical Application Solutions.

About this site

Why have business and pleasure activities on the site? Why not! When I arrive at a job, people who have read the site already have a general background about me and the things I do. You can see who I am and the things I have an interest in. "What was the mud race like?" "where are the Seychelles?" or "Is it hard to drive a tank" are regular questions.
I'm lucky enough to have a healthy supply of website visitors which we utilise with free links to other local companies and events.
Looking at the 4000 visitors on this site per month, 50% are visitors for vintage military info and history on Heybridge Basin, Maldon, the Tumulus or Battle of Maldon. Please feel free to email me any questions and if I don't have the answers or photos required, I may know a man who has.
Also click on any picture on the site to enlarge and feel free to copy them. The older photos are obviously scans from 35mm, but the rest should be good resolution. Thank you for the emails regarding the photos people have downloaded as screen backgrounds already, I will try and change the pictures from month to month. If their is a picture you want, left click to enlarge it, right click anywhere on the picture with your mouse to open the edit menu, then choose copy. This will then put the picture in your computers clipboard memory. Then all you need to do is open your paint or photoshop program, click on edit and then press paste to put it on a blank page.
Please email me if any pictures are not working, every now and then they seem to fall off the website into cyber space, fasthosts are looking into it.
